Outdoor Cameras

We have installed security cameras outside of the house. Except where identified below, we use these for when the house is vacant, since they provide entrance views as well as views of the pool deck. For instance, we can tell when a package is being dropped off, or when a maintenance visit takes place, or when the pool turns green from leaves!

But who likes being watched when staying at the house? So we remotely turn off the inside and pool deck cameras when it is occupied, and will happily turn off every one of the cameras if you so desire.

The exception is the sunset camera facing out from the top west side of the house, with microphone enabled to hear nature sounds. That's on all the time. That's the camera image embedded on the right side of this page.

Other cameras require a password to view from this page -- before your stay begins, we will supply you with the password along with a front door access code.

Normally we leave the front porch camera and the carport cameras turned on by default. Thus, you should expect these entrances watched unless you request that they be turned off. The activity of any of these cameras will be visible here with password. You can tell that they are turned off when the "camera missing in action" page is displayed.

To ensure you understand any camera activity, password-protected live links to each and any of these cameras are provided below. Again, only those identified above are enabled by default when the house is occupied. If you want the pool deck outdoor camera enabled during your visit -- say, for security purposes or to capture family movies, just let us know and we will re-enable it. For privacy awareness purposes, the pool deck camera will have an LED status light enabled whenever in use.

We should note that sometimes the outdoor cameras stop working due to ground faults, other power problems, getting knocked down in a storm, or software issues. The pool deck camera repeatedly has experienced ground fault problems; we put in a new outlet in the east carport in early 2018.

Indoor Cameras

We also install three indoor cameras during the off-season; specifically, one in the open area of each floor. We physically either cover them or remove them from May through August. You are welcome to enable them during your stay if you wish to remotely share a family event such as a dinner or a billiards evening. Or to cover/unplug them if visiting off-season. Let us know if you have a special request.

Of course we would ask that you return these three indoor cameras, when your visit ends, to how they were when you arrived. That is, if during the summer, unplugged or covered or back in the owner's closet. If off-season, please uncover/plug them back in before leaving.

For privacy awareness purposes, any indoor camera will have an LED status light enabled when in use. Unlike the outdoor cameras, these have their microphones disabled by default. Further, they never record footage.

We have installed no other indoor cameras. We do not wish to spy (even inadvertently), nor to be spied upon!
