Reservations
Starting in 2017 we took this house off the rental market, and have made it available to family at no charge beyond the housekeeping fee of $350 for cleaning and fresh linens. Click on the Calendar to find open dates.
Turnover Day is SUNDAY, given that Saturday is even more horrible in terms of weekend access to the Outer Banks. Check-in anytime after 4pm, Sunday. Be aware that check-out is an early 10am, Sunday ... yet this is necessary to provide time for housekeeping and maintenance services to prepare the house for the next guests' arrival.
See our blog entry Avoiding Traffic Jams for ideas on a more pleasant journey to and from Duck.
The Guidelines
We hope that our guests enjoy their stays at Duck Odyssey as much as we do. In order to keep the house in excellent condition for everyone, we ask that you abide by these guidelines.
-
At least one guest residing each night at the house must be older than 25 years of age.
-
No smoking anywhere inside the house.
-
Let us know when anything breaks or needs replacing or could be improved. Remote monitoring provides only limited feedback.
-
Use the outdoor shower downstairs or blue hose under the front porch to rinse beach sand from feet and bathing suit prior to entering the house. Rinsing sand in the bathroom showers will clog the drains.
-
Please only flush toilet paper down the toilet. We are on a septic system and anything else put in the toilet will clog up the system.
-
Remember to bring beach towels. Fresh linens and bath towels are provided for indoor use.
-
Place trash canisters at the curb the night before the Monday and Friday collection dates. See our blog entry Taking out the Trash.
-
Pay close attention to the gas grill on the mid-level deck when it is lit. Then turn off the propane tank when you are done cooking. If guests bring charcoal grills, they must be used on the driveway or backyard sand near the small wooden table to minimize the risk of a building fire.
